Professional Music Educator
Curriculum and Instruction Specialist
Thank you for taking the time to find out a little more about me!
As I move into this new post-doctoral chapter of my career, I am looking forward to making connections, building relationships, and helping future educators achieve their goals.
During my time with Southeastern University, I have designed professional development courses, written research grants, and created my own curriculum for music educators teaching in Christian schools called "Sing, Dance, Play: Learning Music God's Way". I have grown to love the process of biblically integrating music curriculum into a seamless and musically sound curriculum for use in K-5 General Music. In the future, I hope to continue researching and expanding my curriculum to include middle school, high school, special needs, and non-traditional music courses for all students.

As a music educator, I explore history, math, the science of sound, poetry, and make creative, cross-curricular connections within each lesson. During my time in Beaufort County, I finished the first year of the LETRS training and feel confident in my ability to pass that information on to future educators. As a vocal music student, I have studied multiple languages, understand the etymology of words, and have studied the International Phonetic Alphabet, which I believe gave me a head start to my colleagues in K-5 classroom settings. Additionally, I have been a remediation expert during the transition back to the classroom after the COVID-19 shutdown
.
As a leader in my previous schools, I have created budgets, planned and executed fundraising, applied for grants, selected repertoire, aligned curriculum with standards, toured Washington D.C. with 157 middle school musicians, and so much more. I have served as a mentor to new teachers, sat on school improvement teams, lead a professional learning community of music educators, and have been a professional development presenter.

Over my 20-year career in education, I have gained the respect of the students, parents, and administration at any of the schools in which I have taught.

Currently, I am filling an open position in Family and Consumer Sciences at Southside High School in Chocowinity, NC. I am enjoying exploring subject matter and a pedagogy that is new and different. Above all, I am an educator and feel comfortable teaching any class that is related to the Arts, be they language, history, music, theatre, or even cooking and sewing. I am certified Music K-12, FACS 9-12, and am currently enrolled to take the Praxis in Middle Grades ELA.

I am a passionate, servant leader who is ready to add my flair to any organization.

"Sing"cerely His,
